For Tabitha "Tab" King, Owner and CEO of Authority Title & Escrow, title was never part of the original plan. Like so many women in our industry, she simply fell into it after college.

But it didn't take long before she realized she had found something much bigger than a career.

More than 23 years later, that same passion still drives her every day. "Every closing tells a story," Tab says. "Behind every file is history, a family tree, a dream, an investment, and often a legacy being passed from one generation to the next."

That perspective has never left her.

Today, from her home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tab leads Authority Title & Escrow, serving clients throughout Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. She approaches every transaction with the understanding that title professionals are doing far more than processing paperwork. 

"We're protecting ownership, preserving legacies, and helping people move confidently into their next chapter."

For Tab, that responsibility is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

Leading Beyond the Closing Table.

As Owner and CEO, Tab wears countless hats.

Leader. Mentor. Strategist. Educator. Problem solver.

Yet no matter what role she's filling on any given day, her mission remains remarkably consistent. She is passionate about consumer protection, educating the industry, developing future leaders, building meaningful partnerships, and creating closing experiences that people remember for all the right reasons.

To her, success has never simply been measured by transactions completed, but measured by trust earned, relationships built, and lives impacted.

The Women Who Built Her.

When asked who has influenced her most, Tab doesn't hesitate: "My mother." She credits her mom with teaching her grit, resilience, and an incredible work ethic. More importantly, she taught her how to treat people.

Lead with kindness.

Leave people better than you found them.

Those lessons became the foundation of the leader she would eventually become.

Professionally, Tab also credits her business partners for helping shape her leadership journey. "They've challenged me, sharpened me, encouraged me, and reminded me that leadership doesn't have to be lonely."

Confidence Doesn't Have to Be Loud.

One of the greatest lessons Tab has learned over the years is that confidence and kindness are not opposites. In fact, they belong together.

Early in her career, she believed she constantly needed to prove herself. Over time, she discovered something far more powerful, "Leadership isn't volume. It's consistency."

She has learned to own her voice without apologizing for it.

To lead with confidence while still extending grace.

And to take up space without feeling the need to justify why she belongs there.

Advice Worth Keeping.

When Tab talks about the next generation of women entering title, her advice isn't complicated. It's timeless.

Be curious. Never stop learning. Ask questions. Build genuine relationships. And above all, protect your reputation.

She believes our industry is built on trust, and trust is earned long before a closing ever takes place. "People may not remember every transaction," she says, "but they'll always remember how you treated them, how you handled difficult moments, and whether they could count on you."

For Tab, technical knowledge can open doors, but it's integrity, character, and consistency that build lasting careers. Those are the qualities that people remember, and the foundation of a reputation that will carry you further than talent alone ever could.

Her Why.

Ask Tab what drives her, and the answer comes without hesitation. "My daughters." Everything she has built professionally has always been deeply connected to the life she has worked to build for her family.

As a single mother raising three daughters, there were countless days that required faith, resilience, and determination. Through every challenge, they remained her greatest motivation and her proudest accomplishment.

"As they get older, I sit back and think... wow... we're making it."

She hopes her daughters have watched more than just a successful business being built. She hopes they've witnessed what it looks like to lead with integrity, pursue excellence, protect your peace, keep your faith, and never lose yourself in the process.

Beyond her family, Tab is passionate about creating opportunities for other women and building something that will continue making an impact long after she's gone.

For her, success isn't measured only by the companies she's built. It's measured by the legacy she's leaving, the lives she's touching, and the example she's setting for the next generation.

Leading with Curiosity.

Business inevitably brings difficult conversations and challenging personalities. Tab chooses to approach them differently. "I try to lead with curiosity before assumption."

She listens first.

She seeks understanding before reacting.

She believes boundaries and grace can exist side by side.

One of her favorite reminders is beautifully simple.

"Not every battle deserves your energy."

 Strength, she believes, isn't becoming harder, but remaining kind while standing firm.

Collaboration Changes Everything.

If there's one thing Tab hopes to see more of in the title industry, it's women intentionally lifting one another up.

She believes there is plenty of room for strong, capable women to succeed together. Success isn't something to be guarded. It's something to be shared.

For Tab, that looks like mentoring someone who's just getting started, celebrating another woman's promotion, opening doors instead of closing them, and choosing collaboration over competition every chance you get.

"We don't need fewer strong women," she says. "We need more women who are willing to share the room."

It's a philosophy she has embraced throughout her career, and one she believes has the power to shape a stronger, more connected future for our industry.

Strength Forged Through Faith

When people ask where her grit comes from, Tab doesn't point to one defining moment.

She credits her parents for teaching her resilience. Her faith for keeping her grounded. Motherhood for giving her purpose. And life's challenges for shaping the woman she is today.

She openly admits that her journey hasn't always been easy. Like so many women, she's faced seasons that tested her in ways she never expected. But instead of allowing those moments to define her, she chose to let them develop her.

"Difficult seasons are usually building something in me, not breaking something in me."

That perspective has become one of her greatest strengths. It influences the way she leads, the way she loves, and the way she continues moving forward with confidence, grace, and unwavering faith.

The Success She's Most Proud Of.

Although Tab has helped build multiple successful title companies throughout her career, the accomplishment she speaks about most humbly has nothing to do with business. It's raising three daughters as a single mother while continuing to build companies, serve clients, and stay fully present for the people who matter most.

Authority Title may be the youngest company she's helped build. But it represents decades of resilience. Faith. Perseverance. And the belief that meaningful success never requires sacrificing what matters most.

Life Beyond Title.

Outside the office, you'll most likely find Tab exactly where she loves to be; By the pool, working in her garden, writing, speaking, listening to podcasts, watching documentaries.

Or simply soaking in everyday moments with her daughters.
