Feature Spotlight #86 - Lisa Almaguer

Building Legacy Through Leadership, Education & Heart

Some women enter the title industry with a carefully crafted plan. Others find their calling through life’s unexpected turns. For Lisa Almaguer, what began during one of the most difficult seasons of her life became the foundation for a career defined by resilience and impact.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Lisa serves as Escrow Manager and Escrow Officer for Secured Title of Texas in partnership with The Carter Law Firm. With nearly 20 years in the title industry, she continues to bring passion, purpose, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

And while the transactions, technology, and regulations have evolved over the years, one thing has remained constant:

“Every file tells a story, every transaction presents something new to learn, and that curiosity still drives me today.”

More Than Closing Transactions

As an Escrow Manager, Lisa oversees escrow operations while focusing on education, business development, and complex title matters. But ask her what she loves most, and the answer goes far beyond the mechanics of closing transactions.

She is passionate about helping real estate professionals navigate challenging situations and educating consumers about the importance of homeownership. “Homeownership changes lives and being part of that journey never gets old.”

For Lisa, title isn’t simply about getting to the closing table. It’s about helping families achieve one of life’s most meaningful milestones: home ownership.

When an Ending Became a Beginning

Lisa’s title story began during a season marked by both heartbreak and uncertainty.

While navigating a divorce and figuring out how to provide for her children, she was offered a position by her divorce attorney, who also operated a fee attorney office for Stewart Title. At the same time, she was grieving the loss of her mother, who passed away shortly before she entered the industry.

What felt like an ending in many ways became the beginning of something entirely new.

Lisa often reflects on how much her mother would have enjoyed watching her career unfold and seeing the life she built from those difficult circumstances.

Later, she joined a HUD closing agent, facilitating transactions involving foreclosed properties. At first, she focused primarily on getting deals closed. Then one day, her perspective shifted. I realized the homes I was closing were homes families had lost.”

That realization sparked something deeper. It ignited a passion for homeowner education, financial literacy, and helping families build, protect, and preserve homeownership whenever possible.

Like many women in title, Lisa never planned to enter the industry. Yet once she arrived, she found a profession that perfectly combined her love for learning, problem solving, and helping others.

The Power of Community

While Lisa did not have one specific female mentor guiding her path, she found something equally powerful: community.

Much of her growth came through hands-on experience, asking questions, learning from mistakes, and continuously pushing herself to improve. Along the way, organizations like NAHREP played a transformative role in her development.

Through those relationships, she connected with leaders who challenged her to think bigger, encouraged her to pursue leadership opportunities, and reminded her of the importance of creating opportunities for others.

“Mentorship doesn’t always come from one person. Sometimes it comes from a community that sees your potential before you see it yourself.”

That lesson continues to shape how Lisa leads and serves today.

Her Why Runs Deep

At the center of everything Lisa does is family. Her father, known as the number one bricklayer for Fox & Jacobs, and her mother, his biggest supporter, instilled values that continue to guide her life and career.

Growing up, her father often told her that whatever path she chose, she should strive to be the very best at it. What mattered wasn’t the title attached to the job. It was the effort, the integrity, the pride she brought to her work.

Today, Lisa carries those lessons with her every day. She is motivated by a desire to honor her parents’ legacy and show her children what is possible through faith, perseverance, hard work, and character.

Her mother never had the opportunity to see the career that emerged after her passing, but Lisa believes she would be proud. “If my children can one day say, ‘Mom gave it everything she had,’ that will be one of my greatest accomplishments.”

Grit From Dad, Grace From Mom

When asked where her inner strength comes from, Lisa doesn’t hesitate.

“I learned grit from my dad and grace from my mom.”

Her father taught her resilience, determination, and the importance of doing things the right way. Her mother taught her compassion, kindness, faith, and respect for others.

Together, they taught her that success is not measured solely by achievements but by the character we demonstrate along the journey. Those lessons have guided her through personal loss, professional growth, and every leadership opportunity she has embraced.

The Village Behind the Woman

Like many successful women, Lisa is quick to acknowledge that she did not build her career alone.

Her village includes family, friends, colleagues, her faith community, and the relationships she has built through organizations like NAHREP, TLTA, and NHCA.

Each has contributed to her journey in different ways, offering support, encouragement, perspective, and opportunities to grow.

At the center of that village are her children. They remain her greatest motivation and daily reminder of why she continues to work hard and pursue opportunities that create a better future.

Impact Over Accomplishments

Ask Lisa about the achievement she is most proud of, and she won’t point to awards, production numbers, or professional titles. Instead, she talks about people.

She talks about educating real estate professionals, mentoring emerging leaders, creating opportunities, and watching others gain confidence and succeed.

“Success isn’t measured by the titles we hold. It’s measured by the lives we touch and the opportunities we help create for others.”

Over the years, Lisa has taught classes, served in several leadership positions, and given back to the organizations that helped shape her own career. And while transactions eventually close and markets inevitably change, the impact we have on people lasts much longer.

A Little Rock & Roll Along the Way

While Lisa is known for her professionalism and leadership, there’s also a fun side to her story. Her first concert was Bon Jovi, followed by the Beastie Boys.

A little rock and roll. A little rebellion. A lot of energy.

Honestly, it feels pretty fitting for a woman who has never been afraid to embrace opportunity and chart her own path.

A Final Word to the Women of Her.Collective

Lisa’s advice to women is both simple and powerful:

“Don’t wait until you feel ready.”

Some of the most meaningful opportunities in her life came because she said yes before she had everything figured out.

Trust yourself.

Stay curious.

Keep learning.

Own your space and build your circle, even if you’re the first one there.

And remember that strength and kindness are not opposites. The most impactful leaders lead with both.

And if all else fails?

“Title professionals can solve almost anything with enough coffee and a great underwriter.”

Now that’s wisdom every Woman of Title can appreciate.

We are honored to celebrate Lisa Almaguer as this week’s Her.Collective Feature Friday Spotlight. A leader, educator, mentor, and champion for homeownership whose impact continues to shape lives, careers, and communities every day.
