From Basement to Boardroom: The Positively Powerful Journey of Mary Anne Harris
In the world of title insurance, where precision and trust are everything, some women quietly build legacies that ripple across the industry. One such powerhouse is Mary Anne Harris, founder of Positively Balanced, Positively Closed, and Real Estate Closing Path—three companies dedicated to strengthening escrow practices, supporting closers, and elevating the industry through education.
Based in Georgia but serving clients nationwide, Harris has dedicated her career to safeguarding escrow accounts while mentoring and educating others on best practices. Her expertise has made her a sought-after speaker, trainer, and consultant, but her journey began humbly—working in real estate law.
“I started out in 1997 as an office administrator for a real estate and litigation law firm” she recalls. “I was responsible for running the day-to-day operations that included reconciling escrow accounts with six underwriters. By 1999, auditors were asking for my help on the side, and that’s when I realized there was a bigger need. I launched Positively Balanced from my basement, and by 2003, I was able to resign from my full-time job to focus solely on building the business.”

That leap of faith, guided by perseverance and belief in her vision, became the foundation for three thriving companies that continue to help title professionals stay compliant, confident, and prepared.
Women Who Paved the Way
Throughout her career, Harris has drawn inspiration from remarkable women who modeled strength, leadership, and resilience. “There isn’t just one mentor—I’ve been fortunate to watch and admire several incredible women who led with both vision and heart,” she says.
She names Pam Robinson, Carol Clark, Camille Brannon as pivotal influences. “These women each embody qualities I deeply admire: Pam’s always a class act and smart businesswoman who believed in me when I first started. She was a great sounding board as I was developing my own companies. Carol, being a well-known litigator and well respected in the real estate industry has always been a cheerleader and inspired my professional growth. Camille is the Coco Channel of this industry with high standards and an eye for excellence in leadership. All these women lead with grace while never compromising on integrity. They elevated my vision for what my life and business could be.

Challenges and Mindset
While some women in title have faced uphill battles, Harris has chosen a different perspective. “I don’t view my career through the lens of obstacles,” she explains. “Instead, I’ve always focused on building solutions.
Over the years, I’ve created three companies that not only meet real needs in the industry but also free up my clients to concentrate on their growth.”
Her philosophy is simple yet profound:
“Positive thinking equals positive results.”
For Harris, this isn’t just a slogan—it’s a way of life. “By staying focused on the present and keeping my eyes on what’s possible in the future, I avoid getting stuck in setbacks. I’ve also learned the importance of pacing myself, remaining consistent, and committing fully to whatever promises I make.”
Advice for the Next Generation
When asked what she would say to young women entering the title industry, Harris doesn’t hesitate: “Balance is everything.” She encourages them to create a healthy rhythm between professional aspirations and personal fulfillment.
“In this business, it’s easy to get consumed by deadlines, compliance, and client expectations. But if you neglect your own health, your family, or your passions, you won’t be able to sustain your drive long term. That’s why I tell younger women: nurture your relationships, take care of your health, and chase your goals—but do it with balance. And above all, keep a positive outlook. Focusing on the good, even in tough seasons, will always move you forward.”
Her WHY
At the heart of Harris’s success is her faith. “My faith in God guides me,” she says with quiet conviction. “It gives me the confidence to look forward and build toward the future, even when I can’t see every step clearly. Faith alleviates worry and stress, allowing me to stay focused on what really matters.”
This grounding has not only helped her weather challenges but also inspired her to dream bigger. “I believe anything is possible when you believe in yourself and lean on faith. That belief allows me to see opportunities instead of barriers.”
A Legacy of Building Others
When asked about the mark she hopes to leave on the title industry, Harris’s answer is rooted in service: “I created a training program that helps women carve out meaningful careers, not just jobs. Too often, people fall into positions without realizing they have the potential to create lasting, rewarding career paths in this field.”

She is especially passionate about bringing younger women into the industry. “Our industry is aging, and we need fresh energy and new voices. Many young women face insecurities or distractions that make them doubt their potential. I want them to see that there is space for them here—and that success is absolutely within reach.”
Life Beyond Title
Outside of her business ventures, Harris dedicates her time and energy to her family and community. She shares her life with her husband, David, and together they nurture a vibrant blended family. Their eldest, Anne Marie loves interior design and is making strides in the tech industry. Steven is approaching college graduation while working at Universal Studios. Molly Anne is a spirited high school cheerleader with an eye on a fashion career and recently explored Kenya on a mission trip. Will, just starting his high school journey, has an early passion for finance and finds joy on the tennis court. Harris deeply appreciates her husband who has always been an anchor of love and support in both family and business endeavors and is an essential part of her success.
Her home life reflects the same values she carries into her work: encouragement, gratitude, and perseverance. “I’m blessed with a supportive family and friends who cheer me on in all our adventures,” she says.
She’s also passionate about giving—often in quiet ways. “I love to give in secret and bring smiles to others’ faces,” Harris shares. Her heart extends to animals as well, and she dedicates time and resources to improving their lives, raising money for those without a voice.
When Harris has free time, she enjoys traveling to new destinations, playing golf with her husband, and curling up with a good book, always eager to explore the world and expand her horizons.

Final Words of Wisdom
Her guiding philosophy is as clear as her company’s name: “Positive thinking equals positive results.” It’s an outlook that has carried her from a basement startup to a nationally recognized group of companies, all while uplifting others along the way.
“I love witnessing the power of women encouraging one another and celebrating successes,” she says. “Her. the Title Collective is proof that when women support women, greatness follows.”
